The Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index closed 0.5% higher at 102.69 during the week ended Mar 26, 2016 as compared to 102.18 during the previous week. The base for the Index is 2014 (= 100).
Higher prices of cereals and edible oils contributed to the weekly gain in the Index. While the Cereals Index gained 1.58% during the week, the Edible Oils Index rose 1.44%.
Other commodity groups that gained were the Oilseeds Index (+0.91% week-on-week), Sweeteners (Sugar, Gur & Khandsari) Index (+0.41%) and the Other Non-Food Articles Index (+3.36%).
The weekly decliners were the Pulses Index (-1.67%), Vegetables Index (-0.87%), Condiments & Spices Index (-1.3%) and the Fibres Index (-2.63%).
