The Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index rose 2.33% to 105.08 during the week ended Apr 2, 2016 from 102.69 during the previous week. The base for the Index is 2014 (= 100).
The Vegetables Index spiked 15.4% during the week as key onion and potato markets remained closed or witnessed thin arrivals due to Holi and financial year end closing. Vegetables Index is likely to ease next week as normal trading resumes.
Other commodity group indices also witnessed volatility during the week. The other weekly gainers were the Pulses Index (+3.95% w-o-w), Edible Oils Index (+3.14%), Sweeteners Index (+8.17%), Oilseeds Index (+4.57%) and Other Non-Food Articles Index (+1.84%).
The weekly decliners were the Cereals Index (-0.53%), Spices Index (-9.58%) and Fibres Index (-6.04%).
