Government Hikes Import Duty On Edible Oils

The government has hiked the import duty on crude palm oil to 15 per cent from existing 7.5 per cent and on refined palm oil to 25 per cent from 15 per cent to restrict cheaper imports and support local prices which will help the domestic farmers and refiners.

The import duties on edible oils like soya oil and sunflower oil has been increased to 17.5 per cent from 12.5 per cent according to a notification issued by the Central Board of excise and Customs.
