Lower Cardamom Demand amid Higher Production Expectations put the cap on prices

Today, at Idukki auction centre Small Cardamom (Avg. Price) is offered weak at Rs. 1,062 per kg, down by 2.48 per cent against the previous trading day. Ramzan demand reported slow in the domestic market due to coronavirus fear and mostly market closed due to lockdown. 
 
Agriwatch estimated for 2020-21, India’s Cardamom production would be around 22,000 – 23,000 MT, due to favourable weather conditions, higher from the previous year, also added the sentiment. 
 
Agriwatch preliminary estimates based on a current situation, India’s production for the coming marketing year 2021-22 (which will start from August) expected better around 30,000 MT may put the cap on prices in coming days.
