Rains and hailstorm may have bearing on Chana crop

Recent rains couple with hailstorm occurred in many places in Rajasthan, MP and Maharashtra today is likely to have bearing on Rabi crops including Chana which is at almost harvesting stage. As per traders, Chana crop has suffered a lot due to this. Now, Chana prices likely to increase more in near term as crop has already effected by higher temperature seen during February mainly in Rajasthan. Chana production is likely to remain low from our previous estimate of 103 lakh tonnes. Weather is not likely to clear soon so, damage % may increase accordingly. More information is awaited.
