Moong, Urad and Tur Sowing Delayed At Least By 10 Days

Delayed monsoon rains in Kharif pulses growing regions have delayed sowing of Moong, Urad and Tur at least by 10 days. Area under major kharif pulses crops like Moong, Urad and Tur has decreased by 34,52 and 55 % respectively so far. Next 10 days are very crucial at sowing front. Rains are expected this week and it may push up sowing activities. July is very crucial and above normal rains are expected. There is a concern on Kharif pulses area this year and it may decline by 5 to 10% on an average. Decline in Moong and Urad area may be even higher as farmers may shift to Maize, Cotton and Paddy as the relative return is higher.
