Corn in Byas Municipality-13 of Tanahu, Nepal has been damaged by an armyworm infestation. The armyworm attack just as the maize plant has begun to develop fruit has the farmers concerned. A local farmer claimed that the pests had completely destroyed the maize harvest that had been grown on an area of roughly 10 ropani (1.26 acres). The farmers had hoped in vain for a high price for the winter crop of maize. As a result, the farmers in the area intend to stop growing corn and begin growing green fodder.
