Fall Armyworm attack in Tamilnadu

According to reports, the invasive pest Fall Armyworm has once again affected production in numerous areas, disappointing farmers in the Perambalur region of Tamil Nadu who began growing maize after observing a "marginal" decrease in the amount of fall armyworm attack on the crop the previous year. Since the end of August this year, farmers have started producing maize on about 65,000 hectares. Farmers turned to insecticides to control the threat after realizing that the fall armyworm was posing a modest threat to their crop. Perambalur in Tamilnadu is the highest maize grown district.
