As per the market sources, the government may take a decision in the coming February month for increasing the sugar export quota from the current 60 lakh tonne. In the current marketing year so far, the mills have dispatched 30 lakh tonnes of sugar for exports and out of that 18 lakh tonnes have already been shipped. As pet the food ministry, the entire 60 lakh tonnes will get exported by May.
The government is currently assessing the supply and demand estimate in the domestic market along with the actual sugar production.
