Gujarat cotton cultivation area is expected to increase in 2022-23 season.

According to the Gujarat Trade Association, Gujarat Cotton production has decreased from 1.18 crore bales in 2017-18 to 90 lakh bales in 2020-21. In the 2021-22 cotton production is expected to fall to 80 lakh bales. The area under cotton cultivation has decreased from 26.42 lakh hectares in 2017-18 to 22.50 have lakh hectares in 2021-22 season. However, the area under cotton cultivation is expected to increase by 2-3 percent in the coming 2022-23 season as cotton prices were stronger in the 2021-22 season.
