The International Sugar Organization has forecasted that sugar production may increase by around +4.5% year on year basis to a 5-year high of 181.9 million tonne in 2022-23 season, as a result, global sugar market would be in a surplus of +5.6 MMT. However, higher sugar output in India is bearish for prices. India’s Sugarcane acreages has increased by +5.4% year-on-year basis, and sugar production is expected to increase by +2.9% year-on-year basis to 35.8 MMT.
