India’s May Edible Oil Imports Fell 15 Percent Y-O-Y: SEA

According to Solvent Extractors Association (SEA), India’s May edible oil imports fell 15 percent Y-O-Y to 10.05 lakh tons from 12.13 lakh tons in May 2021. Palm oil imports fell by 33.21 percent y-o-y to 5.14 lakh tons from 7.69 lakh tons in May 2021. CPO imports fell in May’22 y-o-y to 4.09 lakh tons from 7.55 lakh tons in May 2021. RBD palmolein import stood at 1.01 lakh tons compared to 0.02 lakh tonne of imports in May 2021. Soy oil imports on y-o-y comparison, stood at 3.73 lakh tons higher from 2.67 lakh tons in May 2021. Sunflower oil imports, y-o-y in May rose to 1.18 lakh tons from 1.75 lakh tons in May 2021. Fall in imports of CPO and Sunflower oil on y-o-y rendered lower imports of edible oil for May month.
