Maize production estimate for South Africa

As per trade sources, South African farmers are projected to yield a 2.65% increase in maize harvest for the 2022/2023 season, as compared to the preceding season. The anticipated harvest for 2023 is estimated at 15.88 million tonnes, as opposed to the 15.47 million tonnes harvested last season. The upcoming harvest is expected to comprise 8.34 million tonnes of white maize, which is intended for human consumption, and 7.54 million tonnes of yellow maize, primarily used in animal feed.
