For the first time, Punjab Govt. has started the summer Moong procurement at the MSP of Rs 7,275 per quintal. This year, farmers have sowed around 1 lakh acres of land under summer Moong in comparison of 50,000 acres last year. State’s contribution of summer Moong production is likely to be around 47,500 tonne this year. Out of total arrivals across the state, Jagraon mandi received the highest arrival of 790 quintal (around 58%) in which around 555 quintals were procured by government and private agencies on MSP or above. In Barnala around 510 quintals new Moong crop arrivals witnessed.
